This family owned restaurant showcases their exclusive Markea Prawns™ of New Caledonia.
Owner, Enrique Braun-Ortega, discovered the New Caledonian farmed raised prawn during a business trip there in 1992. He was hooked with the first bite. as a result, the spark was firmly ignited in his mind (or should we say: Mouth!). The pristine west coast of New Caledonia became the perfect environment to grow his exceptionally sweet prawn.
The Pacific Island of New Caledonia is located to the east of Australia in the South Pacific. The Braun-Ortega family owns and controls all phases of production including the packaging plant. The Markea Prawns™ are closely monitored daily and are given nutritional feed that contain no hormones, no food coloring, no antibiotics, and no by-products from land animals. Because of these high standards the prawns have a unique texture, quality, and sweet flavor.
Markea Prawns™ are used exclusively at Buzz's Wharf for all of their shrimp dishes. Including, the Prawns & Chips, Scampi, Prawns Cocktail, Seafood Pasta, and a local favorite, The Shrimp Lover's Platter served whole with heads on, mmmmm, ONO!
But it is Buzz's signature dish, the Original "Sweet Prawns Tahitian" that will leave you salivating and wanting to return for more. This mouth watering Markea Prawns™ entrée is butter flied and baked in the half-shell with dill, a splash of Vermouth and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. Not only will they melt in your mouth, customers have been known to declare, "they are better than lobster!" This signature dish is served for both lunch and dinner
