Glen "Kelena" Costa
From the very beginning Kelena Costa had a profound love of music. Influenced by his father's musical talent he learned to play the ukulele at the early age of five. Their quaint home in Makawao, Maui was a regular backdrop of jam sessions held by his dad's professional music group/band.
By the time Kelena was a teen he played both the ukulele and acoustic guitar. His most notable accomplishment during the late 60s is having entertained with the early Waiehu Sons' Kevin Brown and the late Arthur Betts.
During the early 70's, Kelena enlisted in the United States Army and traveled the world serving his country. He performed throughout the continental U.S. and Europe polishing his vocal skills and adding to his collection of songs.
Kelena enjoys sharing his love of music at luaus, graduations, weddings, conventions and especially at backyard barbecues or easy days at the beach. He strives to teach our youth of today to keep in tune with our traditions of yesterday.
A native Hawaiian of mixed descent to include Portuguese, English, and Japanese it seems only natural that Kelena's repertoire includes Hawaiian, contemporary, oldies, nightclub and hapa haole melodies.
As he puts it, "Allow me to share my mana'o (knowledge) and aloha (love) of mele (music) with all of you".
